Digital Meter Reads
Many systems will instead utilize electronic meter readings. These can range
from the simple Unitech handhelds, to wand readers, drive-by readings, and
AMR Systems. The specifics will be up to your company's needs and the
meter provider you choose to go with. A list of systems compatible with your
RVS Mosaics software can be found here.
Regardless of how your specific meter reading process works, all systems follow
the same basic monthly routine, found under the
Handheld Interface icon:
- Download Customers to HandHeld
-
The first step you should take each month before going out to read. This
will update you meter reading software to have your most current customer
information available.
-
After downloading your customers you are good to go and read your meters.
- Upload Readings to Computer.
-
After reading your meters, you will need to generate an export file of
your meter readings that you will then upload into RVS.
-
Once uploaded, you will be prompted to print out an Upload Report. We
generally recommend printing this out as it lets you check your readings
and usage before putting them on the accounts. If you notice a large
number of errors on this report, you may need to either re-upload your
file or correct your readings.
-
Excluding Unitech HandHeld readers, any issues you have with either
physically reading your meters or generating the file to bring back into
your RVS Mosaics software will need to be directed to the handheld company.
- Process Readings from Groups
-
After uploading and verifying the reads look fine, you still need to
process the reads into your accounts.
-
This step will put the readings on the accounts and generate charges so
that you are able to run bills for the month.
-
If you happen to need to correct a reading after processing them, you can
do so via the manual meter readings
process.
