Restoring Your Backup
After installation, the program will likely notify you that it cannot find
your data. You will first get a notification asking if you would like to
import from RVS DOS, to which you will say No
.
Next, you be asked if you would like to run the Demo version. Since we are
going to restore a backup, we will need to click Yes
in order
to open the program under a demo.
Once the program is opened to the home screen, click Alternate Menu ->
RVS Utilities
. This will open a text box where you will type in the
command RESTORE
and then click Ok
to continue. The
program will then open up File Explorer and have you navigate to the location
where you saved your FullBU.ZIP
file. Select the file and then
follow the prompts to have the program restore the backup file. Once the
program tells you that the restoration is complete, you will then need to go
to File -> Open
which will open a File Explorer window once more.
This should already be inside your WaterDB directory so all you will need to
do is select the Water.RVS
file. (Note: In some systems your
database file may be named after your company instead of saying "Water".)
In some cases you may need an updated ID file after restoring from the Demo
version. If you are prompted for this, please
call our support line and they
can send you over a license file. After opening your company file, you will
want to click on Company Settings
and then select
Configure Company Information
. From here, select
File -> Make Default Company
to save your open
database as the default to open when launching RVS Mosaics. Once that is
complete you are free to either keep working or close out the program.
