Accessing Your Data
After installation, the program will likely notify you that it cannot find your data. You will first get a notification asking if you would like to import from RVS DOS, to which you will say No.

Next, you be asked if you would like to run the Demo version. If you are wanting to run the Demo, or if you are transferring your database to a new computer, click Yes, and then follow along with the prompts. For more detailed instructions on restoring a database to a new computer, please click here.

If you are connecting to an existing database, you will click No instead.
Lastly, you will get a notification if you would like to start a new company. Unless you are setting up your company from scratch, you will select No here as well.

This will then open up a File Explorer window where you will need to navigate to your database's directory.

• For a database on the same computer: C:\RVSData\WaterDB\Water.rvs
  • note that the name of your .rvs file may differ.
• For a database on a network computer: \\HOST-COMPUTER\RVSData\WaterDB\Water.rvs
  • replace "HOST-COMPUTER" with whatever the network name of the host computer may be.
  • RVS Software strongly recommends using UNC pathing for networked connections as opposed to using a networked drive. It is in our experience that the former is more reliable.
