Backing Up RVS
The first step in the data transfer process is to create a Transfer Files
Backup of your database. To start, you will navigate to Start ->
Backup Data
.
First, you will select the option for Transfer Files
Backup Type.
Second, you will click Browse
and navigate to where you are
wanting to save your backup files.
Third, you will click Start Backup
to start the backup process.
A transfer files backup will generate two separate .ZIP files:
FullBU.ZIP
and RVS Win.ZIP
. The first file is the
actual backup of your RVSData directory. This may take some time depending
on the size of your database and data directory. As such, it is highly recommended
to run the backup process on your computer that hosts the database locally,
if possible. The second file is a backup of your program settings and should
generate almost instantly.
It is very important to note that once you have made a transfer files backup you should not work in the program again on any machine until the database has been restored on its new host computer, as this will cause the backup to be out of date.
